Faroe Islands 2020-2023
My encounter with the Faroe Islands dates back to the 90s., when I in Japan studied Faroese literature and culture. The unsurpassed nature, the sound of silence, the traditions and rituals, the Faroese relationship to CULTURE and NATURE showing pride and respect, has opened a new world for me. Through my study trips to the Faroe Islands, I have in collaboration with Faroese experts looked in depth to the areas of Faroese folk ballad, textile traditions, wild plants for dyeing, meteorology & untreated wool
In this way my artistic expression and message has gained authenticity and strength, creating an emotional and historically related textile landscape.
